Sloth is a stock Epson NB3s, with the 1Mb expansion module and its largest available drive (60Mb). They run Win3.11 (barely) but are not net capable as such due to memory constraints. This NB3 runs Monkey Linux, a mini-linux core designed to run on smaller machines. It's based on a 2.0 kernel on a umsdos based filesystem. (It could be installed on a 40Mb drive too, the key is that you have the memomry module and a swap space setup of 6+Mb.)

The easiest way to get things setup is to use this init(8) and setup a swap partition on hda2 before booting into linux the first time. You can do this using defrag, FIPS, and the mkswap tool for dos. The hard way is prepare the drive with defrag and FIPs, boot Linux, and login. You should be able to get one shell to show if you log into all the VTs at once. Then you can exec each command you need to run, one at a time. (Those commands would be mkswap and swapon, obviously.)

Be prepared to wait a little, since its a little slow. And you'll have to recompile the 2.0.30 kernel to include mouse support if you want to run X. (No, seriously, in 320x240 mode, it works....)
